Announcement of Vacancies
1. Chairperson
2. Member (3 Positions)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following positions in the Teachers Service Commission:
A. Requirements for Appointment
1. Chairperson of the Commission
A person shall be qualified for appointment as Chairperson, if such person:
 
(a) holds a degree in education from a University recognized in Kenya;
(b) has knowledge and experience of at least fifteen years in matters relating to education and training and;
(c) meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
2. Member of the Commission
A person shall be qualified for appointment as Member, if such person:
(a) holds a degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
(b) has knowledge and experience of at least ten years in matters relating to any of the following fields-
(i) Education;
(ii) Governance;
(iii) Management; or
(iv) Law; and
(c) Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
 
3. A person shall not be qualified for appointment as Chairperson or a Member if the person:-
(a) is a serving member of Parliament;
(b) is a serving member of a governing body of a political party;
(c) is a member of a local authority; or
(d) has been found in accordance with any law to have misused or abused a state office or public office or in any way to have contravened Chapter Six of the Constitution.
B. Duration of Appointment
One six-year non-renewable term.
C. Terms of Service
(i) Full-time;
(ii) Shall not hold any other office or employment for profit whether public or private; and
(iii) Remuneration and benefits will be as set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
D. Applicants should attach copies of clearance certificates from:-
(i) The Kenya Revenue Authority;
(ii) The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
(iii) The Criminal Investigations Department;
(iv) Credit Reference Bureau Africa Limited;
(v) Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

Our Client, a Group of Companies based in Nairobi with interests in the Real Estate and Education Sectors, seeks to fill the position of an Accountant.
Key Accountabilities and Duties
  • In consultation with the Group Finance & Admin. Manager, come up with sound corporate governance policies that will help in identifying risks and develop controls that will minimize risks.
  • Constantly review systems that will ensure efficient management of financial resources.
  • Ensure timely and accurate accounting, reporting and analysis so as to help management in decision making.
  • Ensure efficient revenue collection, disbursement, accounting and payment of statutory taxes and levies and their reporting.
  • Ensure financial reports are prepared and submitted in compliance with the company guidelines.
  • Manage all financial relationships with external and internal customers. (Filing of tax returns)
  • Prepare staff and wages payroll.
  • Prepare management accounts, budgets and periodic financial performance reports for presentation to Management.
  • Debt management.
  • Oversee the protection of all company assets in and around Nairobi and other outer stations e.g. Mombasa.
  • Preparing annual accounts and manage the auditing process
  • Any other duties assigned by the Group Finance & Admin. Manager
  • Supervise and oversee the Group Accounts & Finance Staff.
Educational / Professional Qualifications & Work Experience
  • Minimum experience: – 3 – 4 years experience in working for an Educational and Real Estate Business.
  • CPA (K) or ACCA qualification is a must.
  • Bachelors degree from a recognized university will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to use computers including MS Office.
  • Good knowledge and ability to use accounting packages e.g. SAGE PASTEL etc is a must.
Salary per Month Kshs 60,000/= (Gross)
